Tim Black, Founder, Started Black Roofing in June of 1975. Although he no longer participates in the day to day operations of the business, Tim’s 40+ years of experience in the roofing industry is reflected through in the present culture of the company. He is still active in both the Colorado Roofing Association and National Roofing Contractor Association. As a home town Boulder Boy, he is still active in the community as well.
Dan Zahtila, President, began his roofing career in 1978 and became the controlling shareholder of Black Roofing in in 2017. He oversees the management, values, and the future vision of the company. Dan provides additional guidance to the younger generation of shareholders who manage the day to day operations of their assigned departments. He is active in both the Colorado Roofing Association and National Roofing Contractor Association. As a man of God, he believes the success of Black Roofing is the company’s faith in the Lord.
Jason Pryor, Executive Vice President, Shareholder. Jason comes to Black Roofing with a background in construction and commercial waterproofing. Jason began his full time carrier in the waterproofing industry in 2000. He has held positions such as Applicator, Estimator, Superintendent, Project Manager and Vice President. Over the years, Jason has built relationships in the Colorado construction industry with general contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, developers, building owners and manufacture representatives. Jason is experienced in air barriers, joint sealants, injections, coatings, expansion joints, pavers, green roofs and all types other types of waterproofing systems. His experience, reputation and knowledge are well known throughout the industry.

Lacey Trokey, Vice President, Shareholder. Lacey began her career at Black Roofing in 2007 as a receptionist. In 2009, she became the coordinator for the Service Department and in 2014 joined the Flat division as an estimator and project manager. She strives for exceptional customer service by providing quick and efficient response times. Lacey’s customers include general contractors, property owners and managers, public and private entities, and homeowners. She can estimate and manage various types of roofing projects, including new construction, re-roofs, and service repairs for both sloped and low-sloped roofing applications.

Alan Nedelea, Division Manager (Flat & Sheet Metal). Alan started re-roofing in 1991 as a young laborer at the age of 19 working on hot asphalt tar and gravel projects. He wasn’t sure how long he would keep his job, but Tim Black could see more than just potential. He saw an opportunity to develop a hard worker, with the skills to learn and provide customers a professional experience on all roofing construction aspects.
Five years later, as the roofing industry moved to single-ply systems, Alan became the youngest foreman at Black Roofing Inc., supervising 8 to 10 man crews. In 2003, after a short time in the service department as a technician, Dan Zahtila and Tim Black gave Alan the opportunity to move into a larger leadership role as Commercial Superintendent; overseeing multiple re-roofs and new construction projects from set-up through final completion. Since that time Alan feels blessed to have the incredible resources at Black Roofing in his fellow co-workers and supervisors.

Jack Garrett, Commercial Superintendent. He began his career in roofing as a laborer in 1978. Jack’s practical roof experience and knowledge has helped him develop into an effective and seasoned supervisor of all our low-sloped roofing crews for built-up, modified, and single-ply roofing systems. He supervises material handling, production, and manpower, and maintains and coordinates the start and completion of the roofing projects on multiple job sites.
Adam Fernstedt, Commercial Estimator/Project Manager. Adam joined Black Roofing in 2014 as a delivery driver and was quickly promoted into the Operations Manager role where he spent close to five years overseeing the daily operations of the company. This position required careful planning and prioritizing and was very fulfilling for Adam. He helped to guarantee the safe and efficient use of materials and company equipment to aide in overall project completion in a timely manner. In 2019, a position opened that Black Roofing felt Adam would be a great fit for, he accepted the challenge and is now a Commercial Reroof Estimator specializing in low-sloped style roofs. He continues to mentor his successor while exploring all that this new role has to offer.
Rick Halsted, Commercial Estimator/Project Manager, Joined Black Roofing at the beginning of 2019 – he entered the roofing industry in 2005 doing submittals and shop drawings. He quickly advanced to Project Manager and has grown his skill set as a Commercial Estimator. He is very well voiced in a variety of roof types including flat, metal, sloped, wall panels, and tiles.
Diego Cardona, Project Manager. Diego began with Black Roofing for only 2 weeks in a field position before being promoted because his skills were out of this world. Welcome!
Jonathon Harrington, Project Engineer (Flat & Waterproofing), Jonathon is BRI’s first Project Engineer. He joins us from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a degree in Construction Management. He started in the commercial roofing industry in 2015 as a Sheet Metal Installer before returning to college in 2017. While pursuing his degree, he was a part of a team of students who competed in the National Roofing Competition at the International Roofing Expo in 2019 and was awarded first place. Jonathon is eager to see what projects he will work on and to be part of the team, Welcome Jonathon!
Service & Shingle Roofing
Sam Cooley, Service Project Manager. Sam Cooley began his roofing career in 1980 in Louisiana. He has diverse experience in all areas of the Residential Roofing Industry. In 2001, he joined the Black Roofing Team as a Service Technician. Sam’s excellent leadership skills and quality craftsmanship with the roofing projects he completed, led to Sam becoming a Service Project Manager in 2015. With over 35 years of roofing experience, and his easy going personality, Sam is a favorite of customer’s in the Black Roofing Service Department. Because of Sam’s eclectic knowledge of the Roofing Industry, and his easy going, warm personality he makes an excellent addition to the Black Roofing Family.
Julio Blanco, Project Manager. Julio has recently been promoted for all of his hard work and dedication. He has accepted the role of Project Manager and is training his replacement while learning the tasks of his new role. We wish him luck and we know he will bring great clients into our company.
Amber Bonura, Service Coordinator. Amber joined Black Roofing in 2016 after working in the Customer Service and the Security industries for over 10 years. Amber started working as our Receptionist in January 2016, and then assisted with Collections, Payroll, and the Sub-Contractor program as Accounting Coordinator. In April 2016, Amber began working as our Service Coordinator. She works closely with Nevres and Sam daily to deliver exceptional service to our customers in need of roofing repairs.
Letitia Dickerson, Assistant Project Coordinator. Letitia recently joined our team and has moved into focusing on customer service for our residential side. She is assisting our residential and service project coordinator to create a seamless flow of productivity.
Joseph Yackamovitch, Project Manager. Promoted from within our organization due to his 10+ years roofing experience and outstanding customer service. He is assisting our service department and also works with residential reroofs.
Gabor Nemeth, Shingle Superintendent. Gabor has filled the shoes of Julio who has been promoted. He comes with a great background in the industry and has hit the ground running here at BRI.

Scot Hanson, Project Manager. Scot joined Black Roofing in 2002 and has over 27 years experience in the industry. Scot is experienced in all aspects of sheet metal wall and roof installation.

Kyle Bodor, Division Manager (Waterproofing & Spray Foam). Kyle started in the waterproofing industry in 2007 estimating and managing commercial waterproofing projects throughout the Colorado and southern Wyoming markets and joined Black Roofing in November of 2015. He is well versed in below grade waterproofing, above grade waterproofing, plaza deck pavers as well as expansion joint assemblies and spray polyurethane foam insulation.

Chris Yoder, Project Manager. Chris started his career in the commercial construction industry in 2011 working in the field while finishing up his education in mechanical engineering and collegiate soccer career. His field experience has helped him tremendously in the estimating and project management roles. Chris joined the Black Roofing team in 2018 and is excited to continue to learn and grow with new technology and products to provide a high level of service to the customer. He enjoys working closely and building relationships with owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and property management to deliver projects of quality and efficiency. Chris has worked on both restoration and new construction projects inclusive of waterproofing, vertical exterior façade access, and parking garage restoration. Chris has experience in structural concrete repair, load transfer devices, expansion joints, joint sealants, epoxy overlays, traffic coatings, waterproof and epoxy injections, and both below grade and split-slab waterproofing.
Steve Vero, Project Manager. Steve started his waterproofing career in 2010. He was in charge of spray applications by the end of his first year. He then took a foreman position at Black Roofing in 2017. By working hard to bring in more jobs and keeping them under budget – we are happy to announce that Steve has been promoted to Project Manager. He is well versed in all applications of waterproofing and eager to build his portfolio.
Josh Booth, Senior Superintendent. Josh has been in the business for 15 years and has been a part of many projects throughout Colorado. He started as an installer and worked his way up to first a foreman position and has now been a superintendent for 5 years. He finds great satisfaction in finding solutions to problems and working together with people to get the job done.
Lyle Hackenberg, Superintendent. Lyle has been with Black Roofing since August of 2018. He has been around the industry his entire life but has been working in the industry full time as a career for 12 years. Lyle started as a laborer in 2006 and began working his way up through the years. He has held positions such as Laborer, Journeymen Installer, Crew Lead, Foreman and Superintendent. He has been a full time Superintendent for 6 years and has experience in Joint Sealants, Coatings, Air Barriers, Expansion Joints, Injections, Structural Concrete Repairs, and various types of Waterproofing. Lyle is committed to working together as a team and being solution orientated.

Tzveta Ivanova, Senior Coordinator, has been in the waterproofing industry for over 16 years. She found her love for the construction industry back in 2000 and joined the Black Roofing team in May of 2016. She provides support for the project management staff through bid and submittal preparation, LEEDS documentation, contract administration, and accounting.
Jen Kerrigan, Title Controller. We welcome Jen to the BRI family, with her knowledge of the industry and vision of our future we trust we are in good hands.
Tara Senter, Human Resource & Office Manager. Tara began at Black Roofing in November 2018 and quickly proved herself to be a strong asset to the company. She has much experience in customer relations and employee management. She has a fresh take on the human resource role and keeps the office fully stocked and running smoothly. She is very excited to be a part of the BRI Family.
Thomas Simonson, Operations Manager. Thomas has just been elected to take on this role, he is moving out of the field and into the office. We have the utmost confidence in his ability to make this transition a smooth one.
